Is it at all possible to put your bed on the floor or push it up against the wall? In my experience bedrails are not that safe since infants can get caught between them and the bed. Maybe stuffing blankets and towels in the space that creates a gap might help but I am not sure.

oh god... falling out of the bed is so scary! solomon fell off our bed twice before we craigslisted the box springs & put our kingsize directly on the floor. we have our mattress pushed into a corner & i sleep either in the middle or on the side closest to the wall. we've never had an incident since.

Yeah, ours fell out of the bed once and then we put ours on the floor as well. We have a new King size bed now but we use the box spring again now that he is a lot older and he sleeps between us when he is in the bed. I feel OK now that he has shown me that he is great at climbing on and off of it. When he was just crawling I loved having the mattress on the floor. He would wake up and crawl around the room and it would give his dad and I time to wake up without worrying since our room was pretty well baby proofed.

My bed was on the box spring but we never had any falling off instances. Now it is up on the frame again and when Anaya sleeps with me she gets down like a pro.

We have a very similar one. Works fine.

We had a queen (too small for three bodies) and putting it on the floor wasn't an option, so once he started rolling we got a rail. We used it for a few months then replaced it by getting a crib and dropping one side and placing it against the bed like a co-sleeper. We bought the bedrail at Target, nothing special but i'v egot it saved for the future.

We also put our bed on the floor. Sam slept between us when he was tiny, we lowered the bed when he started to get mobile. We also baby proofed the room and just let him roll out of bed and exlpore in the morning. It was great! Now, though, he's no longer content with that--jumps right up and is ready to play--"MOMMEEEE, UP!"

We had a The First Years Close and Secure Sleeper from Target until Ava physically grew out of it, it is a bed you put on your bed. THis thing was perfect, I even put her in it wrong way round (head at the foot of it) so that I could open my eyes and see her face through the little netting illuminated by the nightlight that it has at the head (which I pulled out and turned around also so it wasn't as bright on her). I could just sit up, pick her up without twisting and lay her on the breast, when she was done I would sit up to lay her back down. (why the hell do people think you get more rest having your baby in a crib in another room, you still have to feed and change it at night, best not to have to go very far or fix its food!)
After she grew out of her little sleeper we tried a rail on the side of the bed that was open until I heard her screeching and found her hanging by the neck with her chin caught in the bottom bar but the rest of her body had slipped through. Not something any parent ever needs to witness!
