I wanted to share this - It's a total how to on making your crib a co-sleeper/sidecar. We've done something similar, but were going to add a few of modifications from this site.

Re: Co-Sleeping/Crib Sidecar Hack!
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 4:39 PMWow. That's funny, because that's almost exactly what we did with our crib when we set it up 1 1/2 yrs ago. didn't think of the bungees for additional tightness, and we put the foam in the gap *between* the mattresses rather than against the outside (woulda been much smarter her way).
Great minds think alike!

Re: Co-Sleeping/Crib Sidecar Hack!
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 8:43 PMWow, I wish I had seen this a year ago! I think I am totally going to try this when the next baby is co-sleeping. That is not at all to suggest that there are any current plans for a next baby. -

Re: Co-Sleeping/Crib Sidecar Hack!
Wed, July 23, 2008 - 11:59 AMThanks for posting this.
We started doing this when Ronan grew out to the bassinett which we would start him out in at night, and then was in the bed with us the rest of the night.
The set up works great, however Ronan STILL wakes up at seven months if I move him into the side car if he was nursing/sleeping in the middle of our bed. I can't sleep with him there and I try to put him in his bed with little success.
How best to get babies used to the big open space of the crip and/or sleeping off mom's body/boobs? How best to transition baby from arms to bed?
Thanks!

Re: Co-Sleeping/Crib Sidecar Hack!
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 9:20 PMmaybe start with him sleeping on the outside side of the bed that opens to the crib, rather than between you? I kept my baby on the outside, so the transition didn't involve picking him up or displacing him clear across the bed, it was just a foot or so.
